Scrapbook Tuesday

I have a confession to make.

I’m way behind on my Project Life album.

Way, way behind.

I seem to have lost my drive for working on the album.  I’m sure I’ll get it back – right now I’m only behind for the month of August – but for right now the thought of working on it seems like a chore, not a pleasure. So I will let it sit for a few more weeks until I find the desire to work on it again.

But –

I have done a wee bit of scrapbooking – I seem to have found the desire to digitally scrapbook.  Interestingly, I did the same thing last year; lost my drive to work on the Project Life stuff around the time school started and then wound up working on digital pages for a while. So, maybe there is a trend here? Maybe it has to do with the hectic first weeks of school, I don’t know.

Regardless, as long as I’m doing something creative, I’m happy.

Here are two of the pages I’ve created recently.  They’re focused on the first day of school for the girls:

2012 Family Album - Page 006

The journaling reads:

Your first day of school –  always a little scary for kids and a little more so this year for you… you started a new school, your sister was not at the same school as you anymore and you didn’t know any of the kids who would be in your class. But, in your typical fearless style, you were rarin’ and ready to go that first morning, up way before it was time to be awake and ready to leave almost a half an hour before we had to! I walked you into your classroom – our yearly tradition – although you didn’t want to hold my hand just in case people might mistake you for a “baby” that way. But we all know you are most definitely not a baby. You are a big girl. A third grader. And you are ready to tackle whatever your new school throws your way. I’m so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you do this year – whatever it is you decide to do, I’m sure it will be fantastic. Everything you do is!

And the second page:

2012 Family Album - Page 007

The journaling reads:

Middle School.
Such a big step for you… a milestone you have waited so long to finally reach. And now it is here for you.  After a couple of weeks of worrying and fretting this summer – about all of the changes that were coming, especially your locker! – you are finally ready for the big step… right across the threshold of your new school experience. In spite of the summer jitters, you were ready to roll on the first day of school. You’d met your teachers, practiced opening your locker, walked the halls and found out the friends you’d have in your classes. You knew the drill and you were ready to go. I dropped you off in the front of the school – no more walking you into class on the first day – and as I drove away I couldn’t help but remember the first day you started Kindergarten and how you had a lot of the same worries that had plagued you during this summer as you thought about Middle School.  Just like then, you met the challenge head on and came through with shining colors. I can’t wait to see the things you’ll do and the places you’ll go in the next three years. Whatever they are, I’m sure you will shine – you always do.

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday!

I’m using the Clementine Edition of the Project Life kitoffered by Becky Higgins, supplemented by some digital extras and using up the random bits I have from twelve-plus years of scrapbooking. Some weeks are more digital than others and some weeks are full of frills and furbelows. It just depends on my mood.

This week was all about the birthday girl, so I focused most of my pictures and decorations on that theme. I used a little ribbon and washi tape to add some other elements and most of my journaling was directly on the pictures with the exception of the weekly recap, which I did on a homemade journal card (digitally).

So, without further chatter, here are the pages – (there are four of them because I had so many birthday pictures)

Project Life Tuesday ~ 16 July

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday!

If you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration! The Mom Creative

This week’s post continues to show my catching up on June’s pages. I have the last week of June to share and this past week. The only week I’m lacking at this point is the week of July 1st, which I am waiting to work on because I am trying to decide WHAT I want to do there. I have a mini-album to complete for that mini-vacation and I’m trying to decide what pictures I’ll duplicate in the Project Life album. I’m not one of those who won’t duplicate pages or layouts, but I think I want to tell the whole story in the mini-album and then just pick some highlights to put on the Project Life spread.

I was hoping to work on the mini album last weekend, but just didn’t have the creative mojo to get started. I spent a little time Monday afternoon working on some crafty things to sort of get things jump-started so that I can (hopefully) get my mini album started.

Anyway, here are the pages I have for you this week – (remember, you can click on an image to see it larger)

And then moving on to the July pages…

July 9-15:

img_1808

The left side:

I made the date card digitally, using a background paper resized to 4×6 and then added the date and a “sticker” that said “moments.” I like how it turned out.

I had so many pictures (over 20!) for last week – which is surprising since it was a pretty quiet week. So I made use of a lot of journaling on photos and a smaller weekly recap card.

img_1809

The right side:

I had to take a picture of the girls’ excellent bowling scores. I couldn’t resist.

And used some digital washi tape on the Lenny’s picture.  I also used digital elements on most of the other pictures on this page.

Some weeks are more digital than others and some weeks are full of frills and furbelows. It just depends on my mood.

Still catching up on my Project Life pages. These are from June. I think I will be completely caught up this weekend, but it will depend on what activities we have going on as I’m about two weeks behind as of right now. I’m not worried, though; I feel like I have a good handle on things.

Without further chatter, here are the pages. Simple and sweet, but most importantly – DONE!  Or mostly done, anyway. I have a few slots to fill with some journaling or extras, but they are 90% done.

Week of June 10:

img_1788

Left Page:

img_1782

I still need to do something on that ruled card, but not sure what I want to do there yet and that “Live Love Laugh” is the back of the card in the previous page, but I liked it so I left it, even though the end letters are cut off.

Right page:

img_1783

I made my own title card from some paper I had (I think Storyology?) and my journaling card was a take-off of Cathy Z’s card, but I split my journaling into two 4×3 cards in the smaller pockets.

img_1795

Week of June 18:

img_1792

Still have some filling-in to do here – I think the flowered paper is good, but not sure yet if I’m happy with it, but I don’t have a better idea and it looks better than nothing!

Left Page:

img_1784

Right Page:

img_1793

Again, made my own journal card – used some PL digital papers as the border at the bottom. I liked using the oranges to tie into the card from the play we went to.

And if you made it this far, thank you!

More to come next week!

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday!

Some weeks are more digital than others and some weeks are full of frills and furbelows. It just depends on my mood.

Still catching up on my Project Life pages. I am proud of my progress, though. I started my Volume Two and have a pretty new cover page started.

img_1683

My plan is to put some pictures of us on the blank spots – some from the second half of the year, so I will fill those in as I find some great shots of us.

I am amazed at how many pictures I had for the week of June 4th! I think I ended up with six pages here – but there really weren’t any pictures I wanted to leave out. You will see below that we had a whole bunch from a Sunday outing to Ft. Pulaski and I took quite a few on my trip to HQ as well. I am happy with the pages and have enjoyed puttering along a little at a time for the past week or so on these pages.

Here they are:

img_1685

This was the beginning of the week – Little Bit’s recital. Again, I ended up with two inserts to fit the pictures and programs and a sweet, sweet note that Big Girl gave to her sister after the recital.

img_1684

On the back of the insert, I added a few other pictures of the ballerina…

img_1686

img_1687

The next set of pages are from the week – my trip to HQ and the girls’ activities/antics at “Ammi camp”

img_1688

(remember you can click on an image to see it larger)

img_1689

And that just takes us to Friday of that week! Jeez!

Okay, so then moving along to the weekend – this is our trip to Ft. Pulaski on Sunday and hanging out at Mom’s –

img_1693

You can read more about our adventure here.

img_1694

Some closer-up pictures of the pages – this was an 8×10 insert I added:

img_1695

and I put my journaling in a pull-out card (one of those index card filer cards)

img_1696

And after the fort, we rode out to the beach for a little stroll (in the rain!)

img_1697

and the final page (!) of the week of many pictures:

img_1698

Pshew!

I have more pages to share with you – the remaining weeks of June. I am hoping to share those next week after I put the finishing touches on them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Project Life Tuesday ~ 26 June

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday!

If you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration! The Mom Creative

I’m using the Clementine Edition of the Project Life kit offered by Becky Higgins, supplemented by some digital extras and using up the random bits I have from twelve-plus years of scrapbooking. Some weeks are more digital than others and some weeks are full of frills and furbelows. It just depends on my mood.

I haven’t posted in a while (3 weeks!) because I got behind on my album – have been so busy catching up on other things since my work trip that scrapbooking took a backseat to, well, life.

I did get to spend some time this past weekend getting a little bit caught up. Still have two weeks to do, but I feel much less panicked about how much I have to do. I was quickly reaching that critical juncture of “do I even continue?” and I really didn’t want to go there. So, I feel rather proud of myself for jumping back on the wagon.

I finished my January – June album this weekend. I had decided that I needed to split it up into two volumes way back in March or April when I saw how thick the album already was. Thankfully, I had two of the same type of album already so there was no additional expenditure necessary and everything ties in nicely.

img_1673

I made a cute little card to put in the last pocket so that folks would know to continue on –

the story is not over

I used some of the digital Project Life paper and just added my text on top. Isn’t it cute?

So, since I am catching up, the pages I have to share are from Memorial Day week –

img_1660

Sorry that one is so blurry. I could not get it focused for the life of me. I don’t know why. The good news is that the rest are clear and crisp. I decided to use a red and teal theme this week and the inserts and photos seemed to fit nicely with that little idea.

img_1659

and some close ups of the left page:

img_1662

I made a pennant with some scraps of paper and some twine that I had from a Studio Calico kit.

img_1663

The Memorial Day insert was a freebie I downloaded.

img_1664

I also used some washi tape (with little teal hearts) and one scrap of paper that had a pinkish tinge to it and red grid lines. I cut that sucker up and used every single scrap – decorated plain grid journal cards and made a journal card (with washi tape on it) as well. I love that about this project – that I can use even the smallest bits of scraps – makes me feel frugal. (wink wink)

The right page:

img_1661

Washi tape on the picture to add journaling:

img_1665

LOVE the picture of Big Girl with the water hose. She looks so ferocious!

img_1666

My last little scrap of grid paper being put to good use –

img_1667

And as soon as I finished taking pictures, the girls grabbed the album and went through every.single.page again – from January to June. I love that. I love that they love to look back and remember and that I’m capturing those memories for them.img_1668

That’s why we do this, isn’t it?

I’ll be back with more as soon as I find time to do another week’s worth of pages!

Thanks for stopping by!

Project Life “Tuesday”

well, let’s just pretend it’s Tuesday, okay?

The Mom Creative Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday! If you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration!

This week was more basic. Busy, busy week last week and then a weekend full of family fun left little time for much embellishment of the pages. But, I’m happy with them.

Let’s start with the whole spread. I had three inserts: report cards, promotion certificates, and pictures from our Saturday outing.img_1590

(remember, click on an image to see it larger)

And here’s a close up of the left page. I have plans to put journaling there on that center spot – just haven’t gathered my thoughts yet on what I want to say about her promotion ceremony.img_1591

Then the front of the 3-pocket insert: (with the other page peeking out)img_1592

And a close up:img_1593

Man, those puppies were cuuuuute.  Had to just WALK AWAY so that they didn’t come home with us. Twin brother/sister and totally adorable. I’m sure they were adopted before the day was out.

And the back of the insert- hot and tired on our way back home from our mountain excursion:

img_1594

And the last page. I love the before/after pictures. I may go back and do a digital scrapbook page for those – first day of school and last day of school all together. LOVE the way it turned out.

Little Bit said “Man! I changed a lot last year!” Yes, baby, you did!!

img_1595

Fun on Sunday in the pool with friends and a run-down of the week on the journal cards. Fortunately, I have a few pictures already for this week… and then next week should be jam-packed with my travel pics and the girls’ at Ammi Camp!

Some weeks are more digital than others and some weeks are full of frills and furbelows. It just depends on my mood.

The past week was hectic with the end-of-the-year activities for school, lots of work projects and a sick big girl and mommy. Sigh.

Some of the pages are still in progress – I need to add some journaling but I just ran out of steam when I was working on them the other day. I hope to finish them this weekend.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Here’s the two-page spread, which is actually four, because I used an insert, too. (you can click on any picture to see it larger)

You can barely see it, but I included my grocery list in one of the pockets this week.

The front of the insert:img_1550

and the back is from Sunday’s baptism – both girls were baptized together… I haven’t yet journaled about it – I need some time to process & reflect before I put something there.img_1559

I love the picture of the four of us together. Don’t get many of those.img_1544

and the right page: (which also needs some journaling)img_1560

That’s it for this week!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Project Life Tuesday 15 May 12 (or the best laid plans)

I have had my blog writer program open for three days – three days in which I’ve been PLANNING to write a post. And, somehow, life got in the way.The Mom Creative

Which seems to be happening a lot lately.

Like with my Project Life album.

I sat down to work on it and realized I was THREE WEEKS behind.

Talk about overwhelming. and confusing. and daunting.

I don’t want that to happen again. It was not much fun trying to sort everything out and figure out what happened when.  Thankfully, I have everything written down in the family calendar so it was a little easier.  And, I finally decided that it really didn’t matter if the pictures from one week were on a page with pictures from another. Twenty years from now I doubt we will care which week we went to the eye doctor.  Right?

Anyway, sit back and get comfy – I have a LOT to share this week:

img_1510

Lots of inserts – samples of schoolwork, smaller pocket pages for the extra pictures…

img_1511

img_1512

new car shopping!

And a closeup of the text messages with my brother:

IMG_0027

img_1513

img_1515

another close up – I grabbed the logo from the web because I forgot to get a business card to add to the page.

4-23-12-3 copy

Moving on to the next week:

img_1516

Love the cartoon – so true about life Smile

IMG_1507

another insert:

img_1517img_1518

Field Day – I may go back and do a digital page on these pictures after things calm down around here – not sure yet.

img_1520img_1521

And,finally, Mother’s Day weekend!

img_1522

If you made it this far, thanks for stopping by!

I have made a vow to myself I won’t get that far behind again – too hard to get motivated to catch up. It would’ve been so easy to just quit, but I’m glad I made myself sit down and do the pages – I feel so much better being caught up!

Project Life Tuesday ~ 24 April 12

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday!

The Mom CreativeIf you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration!

This week is a little more digital – with the exception of some old Creative Memories’ Black & White paper and some red ribbon for a punch of color. Since it was a rainy, gloomy week last week, I went with black & white for the major color scheme.img_1471

(remember to click on any image to see it larger)

Here are a few close ups:img_1472

This was the back of the page from last week and it had six 6×4 pockets. I realized this only after I’d cut my 3×4 pictures and rounded the corners, but I think it looks OK. It matches the other page, at least.

img_1473

I thought the red ribbon tied in nicely to the red on the radar and the red tail lights from the rainy day picture.img_1474

a close-up of the journaling. Loving the Cathy Zielske journaling cards. I made the border dark grey to go with my color scheme.

Right side page: (sorry for the glare)

img_1475

My favorite cookies – SuperMan brought some home for me. Love to nibble on some with some green tea at night while we watch TV.img_1476

And the cat has moved back in the house because the doggies have taken over her garage – at least until the back yard is de-flea-ed and the rain lets up.

and then there is my dismay over gas prices. I figured it was worthy of documenting – img_1477

and my current magazine loves & Big Girl’s multi-tasking…

Moving on to Saturday when the pups tried (vainly) to get into the house for a visit.

img_1478

That’s it from around here. I’m not participating in the Week in the Life project (maybe one day) but I have been taking lots of pictures and it’s only Tuesday! Yay, me!

Thanks for stopping by!
