Project Life Tuesday 2.7.12

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday!

If you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration!

Here are the pages I have for last week. I ended up doing a 12×10 insert with some extra pictures from the week, including the Father-Daughter Dance pictures. I will probably end up going back and including a 5×7 of that one since SuperMan had a formal picture made of him with the girls at the dance. I can’t wait to see it.

img_1272

I’m loving using some new things to me – like the Year-ography pages I got last week (the “FEB” insert above) and some SMASH washi tape (polka dots!) that I am now in love with.

img_1273

I also played around with PSE and made some of my own journaling cards – I like to tell the details of the stories and handwriting them just doesn’t always give me enough room.

The journal card that is handwritten (below) was from Elle’s Studio. They are SO pretty – I will be ordering more for sure.

img_1274

This is the right side page… more journaling in PSE plus an handwritten journal card. I also used some of the new Martha Stewart labels I picked up at Staples. (LOVE them!) You will be seeing a lot more of those in my books in the future.

My next project to work on this week is my Move More Eat Well page for February…

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday! The Mom Creative

If you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration!

I have two weeks’ worth of pages to show you since I shared pages from 2011 last week.  So, let’s get started.

First we  have the week of January 16:

I have an 8×10 insert in here – with Big Girl’s speech for school on one side:

img_1242

Here is a close-up of the left hand side:img_1241

And the back of the 8×10 and right-side:img_1243

and the close-up of the right side:

img_1244

I’m loving using PSE to create a 4×6 print with 2 4×3 images in it – so I can fit more pictures on the page… and using it to add journaling directly on the photo, like I did for the rock-face picture.

Here’s last week:img_1246

I used a 6×12 insert here (with 3 4×6 sleeves) for a little extra room for pictures and stuff related to the sicknesses that have overtaken our house.

Close-up left:img_1245

and both pages right-side and back of insert:img_1247

And a close up of the right page:

img_1248

That’s all for this week! I don’t know how many pictures I’m going to have next week – I’ve got one still sick and my week so far has consisted of lots of doctor’s offices (which are not fun to take pictures of) I’m sure something will turn up, though.

I’m also adding to my stash:img_1249

Big Girl and I stopped at a local scrapbook store on the way home from the doctor – I got a few pages to use.

Love the Year-ography pages:img_1250

And these cute Jenni Bowlin embellishment/journaling cards:img_1251

and a few other journaling cards:img_1252

I think my “bug” is back… I can’t seem to stop thinking about scrapbooking again!

Project Life Tuesday: 1.24.12

Happy Tuesday!

I didn’t do much on my Project Life last week – I took pictures and collected things, but I was out of town all weekend, so my plan of working on the week’s pages every Saturday was not going to happen. I have everything figured out, just need to print my pictures and slide them in the pockets.

That’s one of the things I love about this type of scrapbooking. Even when I get behind it doesn’t feel overwhelming. I know that I can catch up pretty easily.

I’m trying out a journaling program called Oh Life – you can set it up to email you every day to remind you to post a quick entry. You just respond to the email and the entry is logged. Super simple. I’ve done a few entries – some days I have nothing to say – but it helps when I sit down to do my Project Life because I have something to refer back to.

I also use my calendar to keep track of happenings – I jot down a few notes and then I also have our schedule there to help jog my memory if I get way behind. That was how I was able to do four months’ worth of catch up in just a weekend not too long ago.

I do have the pages from the week before last, so I thought I’d show those to you today:

img_1213

This was the week both girls were sick – and we were socked in with rain. So, that is what my journaling is about mostly – sickness and rain.  And the bottom right picture are the biscuits I made for breakfast that the girls didn’t eat – heart-shaped biscuits. They were yummy – the girls just didn’t feel like eating that day. (strep and tummy bugs will do that to you)

img_1214

I included a New Year’s card from a friend, the church bulletin for the week, and the kids’ report cards in some smaller page protectors.

img_1216

And on the back is Big Girl’s justification as to why we should let her get a kitten for her birthday (not!) It was too cute not to save.

img_1215

I still have to print Saturday’s picture and put it in there and add the journaling for the second half of the week.  The bottom left is a sweet card my friend sent me that I wanted to save.

So, that’s my week.

I’ll get caught up on last week and this week on Saturday, I hope. I have to go get some more printer paper – I ran out! (that’s part of why I’m behind!)

Project Life Tuesday 1.17.12

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

I did a lot of work on my Project Life albums this past weekend. I wasn’t feeling well on Saturday so that was my way to keep quiet and occupy myself. I worked on the 2011 book (It’s almost done) and did my pages for last week in the 2012 book.

I thought I’d share the 2011 pages I worked on this week – a little from October, November & December. I think I am 95% finished with this book. Just a couple of blog posts to print and add to the album and a little journaling to finish. Which is good, because the book is bulging at the seams and I’m kinda tired of looking at it!

2012 is chugging along nicely. I’ll share the pages from last week in another post so this isn’t such a gigantic post.

Anyway, here are the 2011 pages I worked on:img_1178

and a closer view of the two pages: (sorry for the shadows from the window)

img_1179img_1180

more from that weekend and the pumpkin carving:

img_1181img_1182img_1183

Didn’t take many pictures in November, but here are a few…

img_1184

And moving into December:

img_1187

I’m finding I’m using up some of my old stash – like very old Creative Memories’ papers that were from who-knows-when and probably would never get used otherwise – and some random scraps of paper that fit perfectly in these little 3×4 pockets but are not much good on a 12×12 page.  Makes the project much more economical…

Project Life Tuesday: 1.10.12

Well, I’m off to a great start this year. I spent a good part of Saturday finishing the unfinished journaling in my 2011 Project Life album and ordered the Oct/Nov/Dec prints to finish up the album.  That’ll be next weekend’s project – to put those in and get the project wrapped up.

I also began my 2012 Project Life album. I have been so inspired by all the PL posts I’ve read and photos of other people’s albums.  As I mentioned last week, I was a little undecided as to how I was going to approach this year’s scrapbooking.  After reading the posts and looking at my past PL albums, I decided that was the way to go. So, I ordered the Clementine core kit and will use the leftover page protectors I have from the last two years until I run out of those. I also found a 12×12 three-ring album in my stash, so things are pretty well set at this point.

img_1165

^^ My album and all my new PL supplies in one place, ready to go. ^^

I decided that I’m going to approach this PL album as any other “regular” scrapbook.  One of the blogs I read mentioned that she approaches each pocket on a pocket page as an individual mini scrapbook page – and that she works to coordinate the pockets on a page, but tries to be creative with each pocket. That had sparks going off in my brain. THAT is what I’ve been missing so far – I have felt like my albums were very basic – functional and served a purpose, but I’ve missed the creativity of “traditional” scrapbooking.

So, I made a trip to Archiver’s on Friday with a friend and picked up a few extras to use to embellish and step outside the core PL kit.  I’m also planning to use some of the overlays and templates that Ali Edwards & Cathy Zielske have on Designer Digitals to add a little more flair to my pages.

img_1157

^^ Some of the new goodies I got from Archiver’s ^^

I’m pleased with the results so far.

My cover pages are inspired by Cathy’s – (her post is here)

img_1158img_1159

And this first week of January warranted two two-page spreads because I wanted to tell the story of the hike.  I may yet change it and put a 6×12 page in there so I have more room for journaling and photos as I felt like I was having to truncate my story to fit it into the 4×6 slot.

img_1160img_1162

But, overall, I am very pleased with what I’ve done so far.  And very excited to get going. My plan is to print my photos at home (unless there is a great sale somewhere) and maybe use a little of the Project Life digital supplies, too.

img_1163img_1164

I’ll be sharing pages here (I hope) weekly – my plan is to work on the previous week’s pages each Saturday night.

Scrapbook Tuesday

Well, I’m caught up on my Project Life album!

Mostly, anyway.

img_0930

I went on a “retreat” this weekend with a  girlfriend and spent about twelve hours on Saturday working on my album.  I got May – November pictures in the pages (which included sorting through a TON of memorabilia, school papers, etc. and photos) and I’m now in the process of catching up on the journaling.

img_0931

The pages are not fancy – but they are done. And right now, I’m happy with that. I’ll be supplementing with some digital pages I’ve done so the “fancy” will come with that.

img_0932

I have to say, though, every time I do a Project Life/Project 365 album (this is my third year) I get discouraged about mid-year and slack off.  Then I pick up steam again whenever I get a scrapbook weekend to catch up and I remember why I love this concept so much.

img_0933

I love being able to snap those everyday, mundane things that make up our lives and that I wouldn’t necessarily dedicate an entire scrapbook page (and subsequent supplies) to but that really capture what our life is like right now… what is important to us, what captures our fancy, where we are spending our time.

img_0934

I’m also planning to add in some printouts of my blog posts that correspond with some of the pictures – why re-write all of that? Why not just include it here? After all, I figure my blog is my online scrapbook!

img_0935

I also really love how QUICKLY it comes together (once I sit down and actually DO it!)  I remarked on Sunday morning that I wish I had the discipline to actually do the work on a weekly basis when the memories are fresh and stay caught up.  Alas, that never seems to happen. But, my current method of using an iris project holder to keep my memorabilia and ephemera works pretty well.

img_0936

Last weekend, I just dug around in that, put things in chronological order, slipped it into the appropriate page protectors or pockets and then filled in with photos and journal boxes after that was done.  It works well for me.

img_0937

It also frees me from feeling like I have to do my “normal” scrapbooking chronologically.  Now that I do that mostly digitally, I like being able to bounce around where the inspiration strikes and having my PL album chronological frees me from feeling like I might miss something by jumping around with my other pages.

img_0938

I’ll share some more pages in the coming weeks – I didn’t want to post 100 pages today – that would be rather boring, I think. Smile

img_0939

Scrapbook Tuesday

I didn’t get as much scrapbooking done during the holiday as I had thought I would. Actually, I just wasn’t feeling the creative burst to do so… That, and I know I’ll be doing a LOT of scrapbooking this coming weekend, so I focused more on other things (like knitting and reading and hanging out with the girls) than on scrapbooking.

I did manage to get one page done –

2011 Family Album (4.0) - Page 035

I think it turned out well – and it captures a sweet moment with Little Bit and me that I didn’t even know SuperMan took a picture of.  This was at the cabin in North Carolina when we met my mom and stepdad up there for the weekend.

I’ll have lots more to share next week, I’m sure!

Project Life Tuesday ~ October 2011

I haven’t done very well at keeping up with the Project Life posts… or with the photos, actually. I got so busy in September and then got sick and all that stuff just fell by the wayside.

Here’s my attempt to “catch up” – mostly photos from my iPhone, but they are capturing everyday life, so they don’t have to be “professional” quality, right?

I think the page turned out pretty well…

OCT Photos

I love that I got some of Big Girl – she is not always interested in having her picture taken these days… and the puppies, who have been enjoying time with us lately.

Did you notice the adorable “vampire” pumpkin she created? So cute.

The dark photo – the one you can barely see what is in it – is the graveyard close to our house. We drove through there the other night at dusk. The people who have family members have these “candles” that light at dusk and the whole graveyard was lit up with them – tiny, flickering lights as far as you could see. It was kind of spooky and kind of sweet at the same time.

The rainbow was one I saw on the way to knit the other night. It had been an absolutely horrible day and I was so “done” with things. I was just begging the universe for a break when I saw the rainbow.  As one of my friends said on Facebook “He is listening!” – Amen to that! It sure turned my mood around!

And of course, my piles and piles of books for studying for my PMP exam… and the pizza we enjoyed last Friday night (SO good!) at the new pizza joint we tried.

And piles of Kleenex! and cough drops! and hot tea! for the sick girl!!

And finally, the “shrubbery” SuperMan brought home to me on Saturday.  That’s what I get for quoting Monty Python to him as he walked out the door… (hee hee) I was totally shocked and absolutely thrilled.

And how has your picture taking been going?

Project Life Tuesday ~ 13 September 11

Sorry the blog has been so quiet lately. The blog has been quiet but my life has not! Which is why I haven’t had a blog post – I’ve just been so busy!

But I am sharing my recent photos for Project Life Tuesday today. I haven’t taken many, but here are the ones from last week:

Project Life Tuesday ~ 23 August 11

Busy week last week – we are getting in the groove of our school routine and work has been quite busy as well. That has left little time (or brain power) for scrapbooking, photography, etc. Although, I did manage a pretty good scrapping session on Saturday. (You can see the fruits of my labors here.)

I already shared some of last week’s photos with you on some earlier blog posts – but here are a few shots I haven’t shared yet:

Aug-13-21-Project-Life-web

1. Waiting for the Imax movie at Fernbank.
2. Walking on the grounds at Fernbank.
3. Dinner at Papadeaux to celebrate my bonus.
4. Yummy, decadent dessert at Papadeaux.
5-8. Sunday afternoon means baths for puppies
9. Hot, Hot, and more Hot. Ready for Fall.
10-11. Waiting for dinner on Friday. This is what we see now. Faces in screens.
12-14. Lunch on the Lawn after church on Sunday

That’s it for this week!
