Images from the road

I’m traveling this week for work – and even though I AM working hard I am having a blast. Lots of memories from years’ past when I used to come out here regularly, and I’m enjoying catching up with work buddies that I usually only get to “see” as a voice on a conference call.

The weather is beautiful, although the trip out here was rough with about 4 hours of weather delays (ugh) – once I arrived, though, California has made it up to me with lots of sunny days and balmy temperatures.

I forgot how much I love it out here.

Hello, HQ!
Hello, HQ!

Tonight, I’m having dinner with my brother (I can’t wait) and then tomorrow is my last day of meetings. Today I managed to find my way across the San Mateo Bridge, over 3 different freeways and to our Pleasanton offices to see my folks there. I had a great lunch at Johnny Garlic’s (Guy Fieri‘s place) with them and we had a great time. (good food, too – someone had an pancetta/apple/brie/balsamic glazed pizza I was dying to try but too shy to ask for a bite! Now I wish I had!)

Friday it is home again – hope that the trip is uneventful and I can’t wait to see SuperMan and the girls.  It’s nice to get out here again – reminds me of how much I love my job and the company I work for.

I’ll try to post again soon.

Have a great week, guys!

Taking a little break

I will be traveling for work next week and this weekend is filled with recitals, so I will be taking a little hiatus from blogging.

I’ll be back soon with stories from my trip and pictures of not-so-tiny-little-dancers as well.

Take care!

Sigh

We’re in the final countdown days to the end of the school year.

Teachers are cramming in all that they can —

the kids are trying to get away with as little as they can —

Moms are alternately looking forward to the alarm clock-less mornings and dreading the “I’m BORED!” that they know will not be far away —

and my poor Big Girl is sick (as if all that wasn’t enough)

Fever, chills, sore throat.

UGH.

We’re off to the pediatrician this morning. Not sure if I hope it is strep or hope it is not.  At least with strep she’d have antibiotics.  But those are so hard on her system.

I’ll be in nurse mommy mode today.

sigh.

I’ll be back… soon.

Hi, gang,

So sorry I haven’t been around here much the past week. Work is crazy busy and it is the end of the kids’ school year. Add to that some unexpected challenges that we’ve had in the past week and you have one overloaded girl.

Blogging just hasn’t fit into my schedule.

But I will be back. Soon.

I promise.

Right now, though, I need to focus on some other things and on getting my girls through the last weeks of school. Hopefully, I will be back to blogging next week.

Thank you for understanding!

In the words of the Terminator…

“I’ll be back”

Taking a little break for a few days… going to enjoy the springtime, my girls, and spending some time with family.

See you next week!

Menu Plan Monday ~ 12 March

Achoo!

Spring has sprung and so has the pollen! We had such a nice weekend – hiking with some dear friends on Saturday morning and just enjoying the beautiful weather and company. We paid the price with sneezes and sniffles Saturday night but it was so worth it. The view from the top of the mountain was so pretty –

This week it’s all about comfort food and easy suppers.

  • Monday: Chicken & Dumplings (requested by Big Girl)
  • Tuesday: Shepherd’s Pie (requested by Little Bit)
  • Wednesday: Fajitas (I’ll share my “recipe” later this week)
  • Thursday: (still have to figure this one out)
  • Friday: YOYO (you’re on your own)

The girls and I are headed to grandma’s for the weekend – I’m sure SuperMan will be cooking all sorts of concoctions in our absence. He likes to make things we don’t (like cabbage) while we’re gone.

NEED MORE IDEAS?

You can find more yummy recipes on  orgjunkie.comwhere you can find some great recipes and menu plans.

I’ll be back tomorrow with some updates to my Project Life pages.

Be back soon

My mom is here visiting and the girls and I are enjoying her company. I’ll be back soon.

Simple thoughts on Sunday

I don’t normally post on Sundays. I try to take the day as a true day of rest and focus on my faith and my family.

But I know I have been rather absent around here the past few days and lest you begin to wonder what was going on I thought I’d share a few tidbits.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, Big Girl has been ill with a stomach thing. It’s still going on and I think we are headed back to the pediatrician on Monday. My thoughts are wandering down paths I don’t want to wander, like bacterial intestinal bugs and ulcers and the like. I want some answers and I really want my baby to begin to feel better.

We had big plans for Saturday that were put aside so that we could stay home and let Big Girl recuperate some more. However, life had other plans for us and we ended up at the children’s immediate care facility for Little Bit on Saturday afternoon! She is sick with a UTI (she gets them frequently – so fortunately we knew what it was pretty quickly) – the doctor said the cultures were “off the charts” – Lovely.

So, I now have two sickies and a worn out hubbie (he worked 60 hours this past week) and so I made the decision that we would all stay at home today and rest. It’s been a quiet day for us. I’ve done some cleaning (mopping and dusting) which is really therapy for me and helps me think things through while I work.  SuperMan has watched movies and helped me with folding laundry. He needs the rest.  The girls have played Barbies and watched movies, too.

As Sunday winds down, I’m wondering what next week will hold. Hesitating on putting together a meal plan until I know a little more about what Big Girl’s tummy will tolerate and thinking about what work commitments I might need to shuffle to take care of her.

This is just one of those stages of life – one of those times when I am thankful that I’m strong and resilient and that my momma taught me well about caring for others.  I’m happy to nurse my girls and nurture my sweetheart.  And I’ll be happier when they are all running amok in a few days and I’m pulling my hair out because they are all nuts. (which is our version of normal)

So, if you don’t hear from me, know that my focus is elsewhere and that I’ll be back soon.
