Solving the world’s problems
Project Life Tuesday ~ 28 June
Happy Tuesday!
Lots of pictures again this week – mostly from our fun Sunday with friends.
I got to do a little work last weekend on my Project Life album but I have to say, being 5+ months behind in putting stuff IN the album is quite a mountain to tackle. I have all sorts of stuff – receipts, pictures, kids’ schoolwork, etc. but it is just SO MUCH stuff that I got overwhelmed on Saturday and after spending a couple hours sorting and organizing I just had to quit.
I realized one thing – this is a much easier project to do if you do it on a weekly (or daily) basis than if you try to go back and catch up.
I think what I’m going to do is start with June 1st, get everything from that point forward put in and fixed like I want it. Then I will do my darndest to keep it up to date on a weekly basis (and share with you here) by printing my pictures & putting them in the album every Saturday (that’s the plan anyway).
Then I will catch up the March – June pages on a weekend retreat I’m going to be at in a few weeks. It’ll be a good project to do that weekend because I won’t be distracted by kids, cooking, etc.
For those of you doing Project Life, too, what works for you? I’d love to know how you keep up without getting overwhelmed. Last year I did a lot of digital pages and a little bit of PL/P365 and ended up doing a combined album. I wasn’t thrilled with it, but my photos were scrapbooked and everything documented. So, I just let it go.
If I can’t get this one caught up, I think I may just go with an all-digital project. I’m finding that I’m just not into the mess and dealing with the paper projects anymore. I get disconcerted by the bits and bob (where I used to be thrilled with all the stuff gathered around me)
Anyway, here are this week’s pictures:
Monday: Scooby Cat’s new favorite place to sleep – right in the main traffic-way in the kitchen!
Tuesday: lunch for the girlies – their request!
Wednesday: Kitty hiding from the rain.
Thursday: no picture
Friday: Big Girl is doing the Big Picture Classes: Kidding Around class this summer. It’s her first page! I’m so proud of her.Saturday: SuperMan making his almost famous beef jerky

And my Amish Breakfast Casserole – that I forgot to put the hash browns in!! (tasted good anyway)
Sunday: Lake fun with friends.
Project Life Tuesday: 21 June
Happy Tuesday, y’all. I have a TON of pictures from last week – mostly from Father’s Day – which I will share in a later post because I want to tell the story of the day along with the pictures.
I am hoping to find a few hours this weekend to work on catching up on my Project Life album. Maybe I can show you some pages next week. Of course, that will depend on me actually carving out the time to work on it!
Okay, enough of that… here are this week’s pictures:
My “assistant”
Beautiful sunset:
Why yes, I do wear my pearls when I drink my tea in the morning, don’t you?
The peace and quiet that comes after new game purchases (aaahhh)
And a few shots from our Sunday adventures.

And I just HAD to have a picture of this!! Can you believe it? We also saw “ Lois’ Bakery” sign but we couldn’t pull over for a picture…
That’s it for now… what about you? Any photos last week?
Post your link in the comments so we can go look!
Project Life Tuesday: 14 June
In retrospect, I’m a little surprised that I actually have pictures at all.
It was such a crazy week.
But, I guess this habit has become more entrenched than I realized. I do have pictures! and I have FOURTEEN pictures from seven days!
So, let’s share away!
Monday: Mexican for lunch with Ammi before she left to go back home.
Tuesday: Visit to the vet with Sydney before she starts puppy school
Wednesday: Lunch at our favorite restaurant Giorgio’s after Little Bit’s doctor’s appointment. We treated ourselves to cheese sticks and Mr. Tzortzi gave the girls Italian ices for a treat after lunch.
Thursday: bad day – no pictures
Friday: Cookies make everything better
Saturday: the prescription for the day was rest, relaxation and recuperation
And being attacked in the hammock by a big, furry beastie.
Sunday: lunch at Giorgio’s again.
And catching fireflies before bed.
Project Life Tuesday
Oh.my.goodness!!
Isn’t life supposed to SLOW DOWN once school is out?!?
Well, it hasn’t for us yet.
Last week was a busy, busy week. So much so that I’m not entirely sure I took pictures every day. I can’t even remember!
The girls’ recitals were over the weekend, so we had rehearsals on top of a short work week and recuperating from our whirlwind holiday weekend trip.
It’s been fun but I am certainly ready for things to slow down a little bit. This week doesn’t look much like it will be any slower, but I am hopeful for next week. 🙂
I know I owe you my menu plan for the week, too. I’ll put it up in a separate post. Mom was here through yesterday and between recitals, working, doctors appointments and spending time with her, blog posting got pushed way, way down on the priority list.
Anyway, without further adieu, here is the PL Tuesday photo show. Enjoy!
I’m not quite sure what to say about this one, other than this is what happens when Mommy is working in another room and the kids are unsupervised and a camera is nearby. I think this is Little Bit in the laundry basket. But why? I’m not entirely sure!
Relaxing at the pool – and pummeling your sister – no better way to spend the summer.
Thursday afternoon ballet rehearsals.
Saturday night Jazz recital. Not a bad family picture, I think.
Sunday ballet recital.
Relaxing in the hammock with Daddy.
Project Life check in
I thought I’d let you know how I’ve been doing with my Project Life project… or rather, doing but not doing….
or something like that.
I think I mentioned a while back that I’d purchased Becky Higgins’ Project Life kit. I have every intention of using it, but life has been so crazy lately, not much is happening with it.
As a matter of fact, it looks like this:
How sad is that?
Of course, the pile isn’t all mine. That flowered album is Big Girl’s and from that binder up to the top is all the kids’ school work that they decided needed to be in my album and therefore could be stacked there instead of going through it and tossing what they didn’t want. (Guess that means Mommy gets to sort it and toss it)
I have been really good about taking my pictures, though. Just not very good at doing much with them after that – well, I guess I’m doing something – I’m putting them here.
I am still toying with the concept of doing some digitally, too.
I am enamored of “the monthly roundup” concept that Katie Pertiet does – and Cathy Zielske has these great templates that work well, too.
(She’s also doing Project Life – and I love how she is doing it)
The Shabby Princess is also doing something similar – I think she calls it Project Scrap. Her idea is 2 pictures/week and then she offers a free template each month for you to plop your pictures in. And the templates are CUTE!
I had been thinking about doing Katie’s Roundup each month to compliment the Project Life pages – and had originally planned to get Cathy Z’s templates. But after finding the Shabby Princess’ templates, I may just go with those. They’re free, after all.
So, that brings me back to the progress, or lack of progress, with the project. I have done well with picture taking and with keeping tidbits of memorabilia from life. I still want to do better with capturing some news items and saving some more things from life – church bulletins, etc.
I am hoping to go to a weekend crop the first part of July and that is when I’m planning to catch up on my project. That will be all I work on, so that should be plenty of time (and stuff) to work with!
In the meantime, I think I may give these digital options a try and see if I can do some monthly recaps – at least I’ll feel more like I’m accomplishing something… although, I have to admit, between this blog and my photo-a-day blog, I don’t really feel like I’m being terribly slack. I’m just capturing my memories in a different way.
What about you? What do you think?
Project Life Tuesday
This week, with it’s holiday on Monday, has my posting schedule a little off.
So, Project Life Tuesday is on Wednesday this week.
Recipes will be coming soon and who knows how I’ll end up the week.
We had an interesting and busy week last week – the last couple days of school, travel to my Mom’s, and some fun adventures while we were down there.
Let’s get this started,shall we?
Monday: “hookey day” and hanging out on the hammock. Little Bit’s fashion for the day.
Tuesday: my office – conference calls from the hammock.
Wednesday: Taco Salad night
Thursday: Bread baking to take to Ammi & Pop Pop
Friday: No picture – we were traveling
Saturday: Farmer’s Market
Sunday: Swimming in the hot tub at Ammi’s house
Monday: Little Bit lost another tooth!
And the girls love to make things with leftover “parts” from SuperMan’s side jobs.
What about you? did you take any pictures last week?
You can view more of my photo-a-day project over on It's a Beautiful Life.
Project Life Tuesday
Thought I would share with you the Project Life pictures I’ve taken in the last week:
Sunday: My “other job”
Monday: My feet may be frozen, but they’re cute.
Tuesday: The Animal Jam game addict.
Thursday: My favorite snack is back in season!!
How about you? Did you capture any everyday pictures last week?
I’m logging these daily on my other ‘photo only’ blog if you want to take a peek.
It’s a Beautiful Life
I think I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I’m doing Project Life again this year.
I just love this format and have actually moved away from doing any other type of scrapbooking. It’s just so easy and so quick and simple.
I love being able to snap one picture a day and capture what’s going on without having to worry if I have enough to fill a 2 page spread, or enough journaling to warrant a scrapbook page. I love saving receipts, schoolwork, and other tidbits from life to include in there. (documenting the price of gas, anyone?)
And with my nifty new toy, ahem, phone, I have this really cool application I’m using: Project365. I can snap my picture with the camera on the phone, add it to the app and have a little snippet of journaling to go with the photo. I’ve even added to that by pushing the photos up to the web so I can share with others. (I bought the Pro version, by the way)
And, when I have time, I can go back, print the photos, put them in the Project Life album add the journaling and I’m done!
So cool.
I want to share my photos with you guys, too. But I didn’t want to overwhelm my blog here with the photo-a-day posts. So, I set up a photo-only blog over here.
So, anyway, if you want to subscribe to that photo-a-day blog you can. Or, you can just check occasionally. I think it would be fun to see other people’s ideas for their photo-a-day projects. Some days I have tons of ideas, others, I’m struggling with coming up with an idea for ONE photo!!
You can find the link to the blog up in the top right corner of this blog.
Of course, there are some great websites with some ideas: Capture Your 365 is one. I like that she sends daily emails to remind you, although I’ve not used any of her ideas yet.
Becky Higgins’ Facebook page has some great photo-a-day ideas, too. I sat down last night and went through all of hers and jotted them down in a notebook (my lovely little moleskine) that I can carry around to give me inspiration when I need it.
What about you?
Are you doing a photo-a-day project?
What do you do with your pictures?
Share! Share! I’d love to hear some of your ideas…
