Today

Good morning!

Grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage and join me. I’m so glad you’re here!

Today I’m…

…wondering about Big Girl’s not feeling well… if I need to call the doctor or let her rest and hope she feels better tomorrow.

…grateful for the leftovers in the fridge so that I don’t have to cook tonight.

…thinking about making some pizzelles but wondering if I should wait until the weekend.

…avoiding the laundry that is waiting to be washed, folded and put away.

…working on my to-do list for work.

…enjoying the cooler temperatures that came after the rains.

…hearing the re-runs of “Family Ties” in the other room – my sick girl entertaining herself.

…thinking about the reading I need to do for my Bible study tonight.

…enjoying the creation of this new shawl I started on Sunday. I can’t wait until it is finished and I can wear it.IMG_2142[1]

…looking forward to the fall – the decorations, the festivities, the food, and the fun. I can’t wait to go pick apples, pumpkins and walk in the woods with the colored leaves cascading down around me.

…contemplating whether or not I will “do” my hair today or just pull it up on my head and let the crazy curls do their thing.

…reading “The Secret Life of Bees” and really enjoying it. I just finished another book last night and will share the review with you soon.

…trying to focus on the positive and less on the negative.

Linking up with the Simple Woman’s Daybook today.

Today (Simple Woman’s Daybook) 16 July 2012

FOR TODAY

Outside my window…

it is muggy and hot, but the sun is shining and the storms from last week seem to be gone.

I am thinking…

about plans for the new school year, what our routines and schedule will/should be.

I am thankful…

for the air conditioning and the fact that I work at home and don’t have to leave my girls when they’re home for the summer

In the kitchen…

I’m contemplating simple suppers this week. Salads and grilled foods.

I am wearing…

yoga capris and a comfy t-shirt

I am creating…

knitted washcloths, a mini vacation scrapbook, and plans for some redecorating around the house

I am going…

nowhere this week, unless I absolutely have to

I am wondering…

if I have allergies or am fighting off a summer cold (sniffle, sneeze)

I am reading…

the new Deborah Harkness book, Shadow of Night. So good, already.

I am hoping…

to get a little crafting done this week.

I am looking forward to…

being a part of the review team with Layered Pages.

Around the house…

The kids are playing quietly, enjoying their day. The kitties are sleeping (as usual) and the laundry is waiting for me to attend to it. (as usual)

A favorite quote for today…

Loving this right now – nap nap

One of my favorite things…

My iPad. I am quite addicted.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

work, conference calls, spreadsheets, etc.
a few trips to the swimming pool
Little Bit’s BIRTHDAY! (and party)

A peek into my day…

Today…

Monday, 9 Nov 2009

Outside my window… my yard is covered in a blanket of leaves… that seems to have no end.

I am thinking…about what I’d rather be doing instead of what I should be doing (work).

I am thankful for…my friends’ love, support and encouragement.

From the kitchen…Salisbury steak & mashed potatoes, homemade apple cake.

I am wearing…jeans, slippers, blouse.

I am creating…2010 calendars.

I am going…to try to stay focused today.

I am reading…The White Queen (Phillipa Gregory)

I am hoping…work comes quickly for my husband. Layoffs are no fun.

On my mind…my friends- each of them going through different trials right now and yet so willing to be there for others.

Around the house…sleeping kitties.

One of my favorite things…warm slippers and a hot fire.

A few plans for the rest of the week…organizing, planning and cleaning.

Thanks to The Simple Woman’s Daybook for the inspiration.

Today…

I am starting a new Monday tradition.  Mondays will be my Simple Woman’s Daybook post. Simply, but effectively, capturing the moment. I hope you will join me!

Monday, 2 Nov 2009

Outside my window… my yard is covered in a blanket of leaves; the sky is brightening and the neighborhood is waking up.

I am thinking…of all the things there are to do today – and prioritizing them.

I am thankful for…my husband.

From the kitchen…Pork chops for dinner tonight.   BBQ is on my mind, though.

I am wearing…velour warm-up suit, white t-shirt.

I am creating…bulletin boards for the church volunteer hallway.

I am going…to focus on having a good day today.

I am reading…nothing right now. I have started 3 books but none have “grabbed” me yet.

I am hoping…work comes quickly for my husband. Layoffs are no fun.

I am hearing…the washer and dryer running.

Pondering these words… Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Prov. 3:5-6

Around the house…the little messes from a weekend with the family home are rampant. Must get things tidied up today.

One of my favorite things…peace and quiet after everyone goes to work and school.

A few plans for the rest of the week…re-focusing on taking care of myself so I can take better care of others.

Thanks to The Simple Woman’s Daybook for the inspiration.

Today…

Outside my window… the clouds are trying to overtake the sun and the leaves are changing into a beautiful blanket of color.

I am thinking…of all the things I need to accomplish today – there is not enough time!

I am thankful for…good friends, a loving family, God’s blessings.

From the kitchen…homemade oatmeal craisin cookies; ham for dinner.

I am wearing…comfy clothes; must get “dressed” for the day still.

I am creating…a positive mood and outlook to help me be productive today.

I am going…to love on my kids when they get home this afternoon.

I am reading…You Had Me at Halo (a silly, but entertaining book)

I am hoping…my husband’s job continues to be productive and he is not laid off again.

I am hearing…”I Will Rise” on the radio.

Around the house…my cats are sleeping, the puppy is trashing the yard, and the big dog is napping with one eye out for the pup’s attacks.

One of my favorite things…my hot tea in the mornings… earl grey.

A few plans for the rest of the week…Ballet, Jazz, making dinner for a friend who is recently home from hospital.
