Project Life Tuesday ~ 12 Feb 13

Hello and welcome to Project Life Tuesday! The Mom Creative

If you are stopping by from The Mom Creative, welcome & thanks for clicking over! If you are not, you might want to click over there when you’re done here for some more great Project Life inspiration!

This year, I’m doing a digital version of Project Life. I’m using (mostly) the Turquoise Edition of Project Life supplemented by some other digital kits as they strike my fancy from week to week. I’m also planning to purchase the digital versions of a few of the new Project Life kits that were launched at the trade shows this winter (as soon as they’re available in the spring) to mix things up a bit for the year.  I have found, in doing this for three years now, that I get bored with the same kit from week to week and I like doing things differently to suit the mood of the photos for the week (or my mood as I’m scrapping them!)

This past weekend I decided to get started on my 2013 pages – It’s already mid-February and although I’ve still not finished 2012, I figured I didn’t want to get any more behind on 2013 and then be so overwhelmed I wanted to quit altogether! I’ll try to do one 2012 page spread and one 2013 page spread each weekend. Maybe that way I’ll get caught up and not any more behind than I already am!

I started my 2013 cover page:

2013 Family Album - Page 001

I didn’t want to fill all the slots, though. I want to put some family pictures here and I usually like to use my favorites from the year on the cover page.  This one of the girls with their cousins I absolutely love, so it had to go on the front page.

And here’s the first two-page spread of the year:

The last week of 2012/first week of 2013 – still hanging out with my brother and his family at Mom’s house. I love, love, love these pictures. They really capture our visit – lots of smiles and lots of fun times together.

How about you? How’s your 2013 memory keeping going?

  1. I totally understand what you mean about getting bored with one kit. I bought digital Cobalt last year and used very little of it 🙂 I am also waiting for some of the new kits to come to AC Digitals! I am doing the same thing with my cover page – I always do one to start the year but the photos get swapped out at year end with my faves.

    1. That’s one of the things I love, swapping out the papers as the mood strikes me. It’s kind of like “traditional” scrapbooking but without all the extra work!
      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Hello Lois,
I love your Project Life Tuesday posts! I originally found your blog when I did a search for SBC+ templates a couple of years ago. I’ve visited your blog almost daily every since. I’m curious if you’re using SBC+ or Photoshop to do your Project Life pages? Are you printing the pages as 12×12 and then putting them in an album? I’d like to start doing Project Life, but feel a little limited using SBC+. Thanks for any insight!

    1. Hi, Andi,
I do everything in SBC+. I just find the interface so much easier/more intuitive than PSE and when I use PSE I find I get more frustrated than anything. For 2012 I am going to print the individual pages and put them in the existing “traditional” Project Life album I’ve started. For 2013 I think I am going to print a digital book. I have so many albums I’m running out of shelf space and the digital books take up a lot less room (my 2011 and 2012 albums were two volumes of 3″ binders each)
Doing PL in SBC+ is pretty simple. I created a “template” as my first page of the album with the layout I wanted to use and then just duplicated the page about 20 times to give me a base to start with. Then I found the kraft “template” page that I liked (see last week’s PL post) and have been using that as the top layer on the page to make them look a little more like pockets (I add a heavy shadow)
Hope this helps. I’m happy to chat about more details in email if you have other questions.

  3. Looking good. Your title page looks really great so far. I’m still working on 2012, I really need to get in gear with my 2013 pages too. I would hate to just keep falling behind.

    1. Yes, that’s why I’m hoping to do a little of 12 and 13 each weekend to keep from falling any further behind. I thought the other day about starting with the current week and working my way backwards. I may try that next.
